Sophisticated Design in St George’s Hill

Today’s design inspiration comes from a classic design home in an exclusive private estate with chic and glamorous contemporary interiors designed to be a perfect balance between relaxed family living and high style entertaining.  This recently built, custom 8,000 square-foot English country home is beautifully presented and well-proportioned with its accommodations spread over two floors.  The interiors have been perfectly appointed by the renowned Interior Design firm Hill House Interiors of Weybridge, near London.  The residence actually shows much like a designer show house with all of the furnishings used here being entirely of bespoke design by Hill House Interiors.  The result being a luxury home that marries style and old Hollywood inspired glamour, with modern sophistication and efficient function.

The drawing room is a center for elegant gatherings and includes a self- playing baby grand piano.  The look here is layered luxury.  The space is defined with Art Deco lines and is centered with the flush marble fireplace surround and mirror.  The seating is gathered around the zebra print rug which lets you know that this is about cosmopolitan chic and not tired formality.  Luxe fabrics and fur throws elevate the furnishings to posh heights, while stacks of books and gathered objects on the surfaces make the space personal and inviting.  This is luxury to be lived in.

The composition here gives the room a worldly sophistication.

The drawing room flows into the homes bar area.  Let the party begin!  The floors are covered in black lizard-embossed leather and the bar itself has been faced with faceted mirror panels giving the space a sexy 60’s vibe.  A fully functioning bar: wine and drink refrigerators, ice maker, and a dishwasher are included here, along with a 50-inch plasma television.  The glass doors across the entire back accordion stack completely to the side fully opening the space up to the covered terrace creating a lively indoor-outdoor entertaining area.

The bar area then flows into the gourmet kitchen and dining area.  We don’t have any photos showing the kitchen area in detail but you can see the rich glossy wood corner of the center-island and breakfast bar there and can get a pretty good idea of what’s not within view.  Very sleek and sophisticated, so much so that visiting guest have been prompted to ask where the kitchen was located.  For me personally, this sounds like the ideal kitchen.  In any event, a second preparation area was created beyond that includes an extra oven and plenty of space for the help to lay out the food before bringing it out to be served in the public spaces.  Pleated velvet was used to upholster the dining chairs.

The flow continues on into a more relaxed living room area that includes a television mounted above the firebox and a vintage 1960’s Playboy poster.  Again, the glass doors along the back wall in this room stack back fully opening the space to the outside terrace and creating more room for indoor-outdoor entertaining.

The home also includes an impressive cinema room complete with metallic fabric upholstered walls and comfy seating, large Hollywood photos, and dramatic crystal dripping wall lights.

The bespoke detailing continues on into the study/home office.  Look at the detail on that partner’s desk.

The central reception hall is considered the home’s showstopper, with the grand contemporary staircase which fans left and right to the upper floor, being the centerpiece.  The marble staircase includes a glass balustrade complete with a padded leather handrail and is illuminated by a spectacular antique crystal chandelier.  The wall behind it is paneled with specially covered pearlized leather that conceals doors which provide storage space beyond them.

Upstairs, the home includes a total of five bedrooms with en suite bathrooms, and a home gym.  The glamorous interiors continue through the entire home.

The large Master bedroom suite totals 1,500 square-feet and was designed especially for relaxation.  The designers even brought in a specialized lighting expert to create the perfect lighting situation for every area and function.  The space includes two separate dressing areas and a large Hollywood-glamour master bath complete with polished marble, glossy black lacquer, mirror panels, and Deco-style Swarovski crystal lighting sconces.  The suite also opens onto a terrace overlooking the back lawn and gardens.

The home includes a 3-car garage and sits on an elevated south facing acre of land in the exclusive St George’s Hill Estate.

And that concludes our post for today my friends.  I hope you all have enjoyed and been inspired!!
